Having the chance to perform this piece with EDI in front of an audience has been an opportunity I’m forever grateful for! I knew about electronic performance classes even before coming to Berklee and thought they looked fun! I enjoyed watching other students and friends performing as well. However, due to all the multi-tasking and thought-processes involved in electronic performance, I thought my brain wouldn’t be able to handle it, so I steered away from those classes thinking it wasn’t for me. But as I approach graduation next semester, I finally decided to give it a shot, as I realized I should challenge myself instead of having to regret not trying it when my time at Berklee ends. Lunatic Sounds was one of the first producers that drew me into electronic music back in 2019. ⚡️ I used to listen to a lot of fast-paced hardstyle-inspired drum n’ bass back during the earlier stages of my production journey, and when I first heard this piece, I remember getting immediate chills. It was so chaotic, yet sonically developed, powerful, and electrifying. I loved the song so much, that I tried playing a similar top line melody on my keyboard, back when I didn’t know what MIDI controllers were. (I remember my fingers being really exhausted after I attempted it on keyboard) Now with access to the Ableton Push 3, I can finally play that same melody with a plethora of sounds to choose from!
